"Well pump went out…quoted $6500 to fix…came out the next day and had no clue how to do it. Told me to call Skillings who came out and fixed it immediately for $1100. And Heritage charged me $189 for coming out twice…once to try to rip me off and then again to tell me they don’t know how to rip me off. I want my $189 back and I will tell everyone I know not to use Heritage"

"HVAC work that was done seems to have corrected the reported issues with the older unit. But also had electrical work scheduled on a generator and it was canceled last minute again. The first time for a family emergency by the worker, which I understand, but this time two weeks after the first scheduled appointment for lack of parts because they were going to purchase the parts as they are driving to the job. This does not seem like an acceptable answer as they should have already had the parts two weeks prior when they were originally scheduled to do the job."

"Due to inability when I turned on my control to start my lights fan device in bathroom a blue tiny arc appeared it was turned on from my circuit box and ran well Problem was it can only be shut off from the circuit box. You said you would come back but I have been in hospital for pain etc due to cancer surgery and radiation so I told you that I would call to have you come. My concerns about COVID-19 kept me inside my immune system way down so later in Summer you could let me know what needs to be done so an turn it on and off using dial for fan and snap on lights tried everything but fixture in bathroom sent up as I said a tiny blue arc I thought we tested dial but soon it will be fixed I have to beef up from 104 to 110 or 15 no appetite a linen scarf under my quilt fabric masks. "I submitted the following message to Heritage on the evening of June 22, 2020 and have yet to receive a reply. "Chris arrived this morning at eight-thirty to service my central air system. I had spent some time clearing the way for him to access the system located in my attic, but he told me that he would be unable to climb up and asked me if anyone else had ever gone into the attic (all other technicians have gone into the attic.) He apparently did not have the correct size ladder which would allow him to gain access. He did go outside and work on the condenser and I did receive an email with the results. I am concerned about the system in the attic since it was not serviced last year and I know that the filter has now not been replaced for two years. Chris reassured me that everything looked fine, but he failed to even access the system in the attic. I do not want something to go wrong as a result of this lack of action on his part and consequently I would be liable for the cost of repairs. Thank you so much for your kind consideration in this matter." "A person from heritage came to my home to give me an estimate (for $80) for installing a blackflow for irrigation. Our backyard is about 10’ higher than our front yard where the backflow would be located. I was told by the heritage guy that code mandates that the backflow be 12” above the highest sprinkler head and therefore the backflow would have to be installed about 10-12 feet high up on the front of my house. We walked around the house talking about better options but he assured me this was the only way to do it. Then he tried to sell me on a plumbing subscription... but that’s another story. When I told my irrigation guy about the height that the backflow had to be he burst out laughing and told me I need a new plumber. Apparently there is a very common type of backflow called a double check backflow that does not have to be 12” above the highest head. It can be placed almost anywhere. He was stunned that heritage told me my only option was to mount the thing way up on my house. He said in plumbers groups on Facebook people share pictures of that kind of thing as jokes/memes. So I replied back to the emailed quote I received from heritage asking about the double check backflow option but I never received a response. At this point I really didn’t want to use heritage due to the fact that they didn’t mention the doublecheck option, but I paid $80 for their overpriced quote so I felt compelled to at least get an answer. I never did. I called a couple other plumbers and they all confirmed what my irrigation guy said. If you use a double check valve then it doesn’t have to be 12” above the highest sprinkler head. So I had another plumber come out and he gave me a quote for free (imagine that) for about half the price of heritage. Mind you the heritage quote included a discount for signing up for their “subscription” (which I didn’t want) and it was still way more expensive. I will never use them."

"They work on commission and will do anything they think they can get away with tonite you excessive rates. I’ve tried them twice. One they tried charging me thousands of dollars for basic electrical work that I subsequently paid only a few hundred bucks for from an independent electrician. In the second attempt to use them, this time to repair a small drip and replace a filter on my gas furnace, they told me wife it was not easy to service and gave her two quotes for the services, both of them over $3k. Then they said the best thing to do was to replace the entire unit for “just a couple of thousand more,“ hoping she would bite. I shook my head in disgust when she told me. My furnace was less than 6 years old and there was no way it needed to be replaced, as confirmed by a different HVAC professional."

"After having my A/C unit installed there was an issue with the switch controlling the thermostat. It was late and the technician said they could not get the part until the following morning. He left my thermostat connected to a light switch and I had to manually control my heat (it was early spring) that night. The next morning a tech case, confirmed the issue and told me they wouldn’t have the part until Monday (it was Saturday now). I had to manually control my heat all weekend until the tech came on Monday with the correct part. I was offered no discount for the trouble and no sales person or manager ever returned my calls regarding the issue."

"AJ is the best tech for oil boilers. He has a great deal of head knowledge about these systems including the correct wiring of the control circuits. He stayed late into the evening correcting the mis-wiring of the system and ensured that everything worked as it should. The service call wasn't cheap, but we received top-quality service, and my boiler has been running efficiently and smoothly throughout the winter. Going with a cheaper provider is tempting but at what price? "Hired you for two issues. The first was to unclog a basement sink on the 21st. The plumber discovered an unforeseen issue therefore we decided to remove the sink and cap the lines. He claimed that there was no one around that could help him remove the old sink. When I asked if they could come back when they had additional bodies I was told it would cost me the visit. He then recommended I call someone else to have it removed. I let that go... Second, I had scheduled boiler maintenance for this Friday yet I got a call from Bob yesterday morning saying he's on his way. I had to juggle around a few meetings but able to accommodate. The boiler is in good shape but he didn't hesitate to tell me about all the issues he saw in the basement from plumbing to electrical to HVAC. He was prepared to quote out a plethora of items that would have cost me thousands of dollars. He also performed maintenance on the 4 year-old water heater that the plumber from the week before forgot to do. While going through the list of recommendations he mentioned a few times that he's not selling me and that he used to be a property manager. I hired him for boiler maintenance - not a full blown out inspection with a laundry list of 'not-so-critical' things he feels should be taken care of. What really drove me to write this comment is what he did with the rusty water he drained from the boiler. Instead of walking out to the street to dump it like I do and other service guys have done in the past he simply dumped it onto my back lawn. I take great care in my lawn and spend much time fertilizing, mowing, trimming, removing weeds, etc. Now I have a patch of grass that has been killed by the drainage that needs attention. For someone claiming to have been a property manager I'm surprised to see such neglect and disrespect to my property."

"Never told about "cold wash" before my hot water heater was replaced with with Rinnai on demand heater in 2017 - washing kitchen dishes in hot water followed with invariable cold flow of water seems a major downgrade in performance. I have never experienced this phenomenon in other homes with an on demand heater. Other work and results from Heritage have been consistently excellent, but dishwashing is a nightly reminder of the unpleasant "cold wash" flaw."

"I wanted them to clean the furnace; they installed it. The crew person came over and cleaned it. He then says that I have a leak, and I know that the leak was not there before the crewperson arrived. He checks for more leaks and then says the water tank and boiler are leaking because of rust on the valve. He said that there is a leak in the water tank and that we would have to replace the whole tank instead of sealing the valve. He told me it cost 3500, which is ridiculous."

"Overall I have been satisfied with their services, but several times I have not been happy with the results. When I had my sump pump replaced, the technician put in a pipe which was not the correct size and I had water all over my basement floor. My most recent experience was scary due to the fact that the technician announced that he smelled "electrical" when he opened the door to the basement. He also sent me an invoice for a $5,000 water heater which I had not ordered. Finally, I had put my feral cat in the breezeway during a vet visit and he was able to escape into the basement due to a hole in the floor which a technician had made under a carpet when he was working on a heater and never told me about. Annual servicing of both my furnace and my central air has been satisfactory. I hope these incidents explain why I hesitate to recommend this company to a friend."

"I called for a plumber on a Thursday afternoon, and he was scheduled to arrive on Friday between 1-4pm. He arrived a little after 4pm to do a basic toilet replacement. I was charged $891 for this service. Since then I have checked with six other plumbers, all of whom said this is a highly inflated price. The plumber was at the house for less than 2 hours, and this was a basic toilet installation. I called on Monday to ask to speak with someone about the charge. I feel we were taken advantage of since it was a Friday evening and this company knew we would not want to wait until Monday since there is only one bathroom in the house. I had to call three times before I could get a manager to call me back. He said their prices are "book prices," but he would take a look at the invoice to see if there was anything he could do about adjusting the price, and he would call back. It has been over two weeks and he has not called back, and I have made another call to the office but no reply. How could I possibly recommend a company who charged 2X the average rate for a basic plumbing service? I plan to post this review in other places as well."

"The experience we had with Heritage was absolutely terrible. This company charges $575 an hour to work on a water heater, and claims it takes a half day to replace a tank. $575 an hour is $1,196,000 per year based on a 40 hour week. Do they pay their plumbers a million dollars per year? We were quoted over 4400 dollars to replace a 900 dollar tank. In addition, they recommended another 8 thousand dollars of work on a system recently rated at 96% efficiency by Dead River. This quote from Heritage to fix a leak in the connection of our water heater was over 13 thousand dollars. We contacted a competing company who fixed the leak for 50 bucks, then replaced the tank the next day for $1800, including a new expansion tank and bringing the system to code. Heritage has abusive pricing, buyer beware- shop around. These are pipes, not human arteries. A cardiac surgeon makes less per hour."

"When I scheduled an appointment with the worker, it was told that they would come and give the estimate. I have two things to fix, but I did it before they came. They did not do anything, it was just a couple of minutes. They went outside in their van for about thirty minutes, it was captured on my camera. Before they left they said I had to pay $89 for the visit just for the estimate. I felt it was not a proper cost. I would not recommend them because they said they would not charge if there was nothing to fix, just to give an estimate. They only said they would charge if they did work on the house. I agreed, but when they came they told me they had to charge me $89."
