"Very overpriced. The pricing policy is ridiculous. Instead of an hourly rate like most licensed plumbers, they give you two costs after they show up: the first price is the cost of locating the problem, and the second price is for doing the repair work. I was charged an amount almost triple what a top quality licenses plumber with an hourly rate would have cost. But since I had an ongoing leak, I was stuck. Because this company has sufficient staff to deal with immediate problems, they take advantage of that fact. I wouldn't mind if they added on an up front flat rate quick response charge on top of an hourly rate."

"The very personable man who did the work, Remy Lopez, explained what he planned to do before doing the work and what he was doing while he did the work. He came twice, first to fix a leaking icemaker filter, where he also found pipes with pinhole leaks and fixed them, and second to replace water pipes and parts where the pipes entered the house. He answered all of my questions. He explained why he did things the way he did them and what I needed to do as the homeowner, like what to watch for regarding leaks in old pipes, how to open and close the water valves and when to replace a certain part that was expected to last a specific number of years (and even put a note card next to it). Remy and the office staff patiently explained the estimate for the second job before doing it, as well as the service agreement options that provide certain yearly benefits and work discounts. There were no unwanted surprises. The company also didn't push me to have the job done by them even after I signed the agreement and then looked into having the work covered by a warranty company that would require using a different plumber. I'm more than happy with my Mallick experience."

"I have used Mallick twice in the last 18 months. They were recommended to me by a friend as having good service and fair pricing, plus they are a local Maryland company. My first experience was due to a pipe that burst during the winter months and Mallick was easy to contact, get an appointment, showed up on time as promised and were able to diagnose and complete the repair to my inside pipe and outside hose bib. At that time, I also asked them to give me an estimate on replacing my water heater as it was approaching an age for replacement. They gave me a quote, and about 9 months later when mine started leaking I called them back to verify if the price had changed and how quickly they might be able to come. I had some additional questions, as I was shopping around and they came in with a very fair quote and I elected to use them again to replace the water heater. Again, they performed all work satisfactorily, in a timely manner, had a good deameanor , and were very pleasant to work with and easy to contact with questions. I would definitely recommend Mallick Plumbing and Heating."

"I had a very difficult sewer line blockage and Mallick kept at it until it was fixed."

"After using Mallick occasionally for about 10 years, we had an awful experience with Mallick plumbing in May 2023 and will never use them again. We called them to look into two very minor, routine issues (e.g., a leaky faucet). They upsold us on a bunch of expensive work, including work on our hot water heater and installation of a pressure relief valve on our water line, saying they could not guarantee any of their work on the leaky faucet unless we did that. To make a long story short, installation of the pressure relief valve led to a rupture in our water service line. Mallick not only dragged its feet on addressing the emergency (leaving it to us to diagnose the issue and shut off the water at night with the help of the local utility) but then Troy Ray, Mallick’s field supervisor, not only denied any responsibility, but refused to schedule any work to repair our water service line until we paid Mallick for all the work that they had already done as well as the upcoming work to repair the water line. In total this was about $10,000. Mallick made us pay them this money before they would take any action to repair our water line and restore service. We felt like this was nothing short of extortion, but we had to do it, as we have a household of 4 people, some with serious medical needs, and we had to have water restored. In the end, what started out as a routine leaky faucet led to a three day plumbing nightmare that cost us $10,000, three days without water, and three months of back problems for me, from hauling buckets of water from our neighbors house for 3 days so we could flush our toilets while Mallick got around to fixing what they broke."

"Mallick was a life-saver! We recently purchased a home, and on the day before we were moving in, the sewer line began backing up into the powder room. Ugh. We called Mallick, and they arrived within 2 hours to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately, it was a break in the main sewer pipe, but Mallick provided an estimate that evening. They were able to excavate, repair the pipe, and restore water in two days (while the movers were moving in our furniture.) All people we worked with were knowledgeable, efficient, and respectful.
